The “twisties”

Simone’s return is exciting and made me channel this IG post that I wrote 2 years ago when she took her break, this feeling has been coming up in conversations that I had with a lot of people recently.

The “twisties”

What I feel, no one is talking about is that many of us have experienced it, and probably are sitting in it right now and don’t even know it. Your body and mind are not aligned. At least not in the way that you need it to be.

The way that the “twisties” has been described in the media doesn’t sound like it’s exclusive to Olympians at the top level.

It’s applies to everyone pushing themselves.

You have taken the leap, and are trusting your mind and body to do what you’ve trained it to do, and now it all seems foreign.

You have to land at some point and have no idea if you will land on your feet, or if you may cause catastrophic injury.

What Simone showed us is that you can stop
You can rest
You can recalibrate
You can support others from the sideline
You are the only one that knows you!

But what she said that I thought was so profound is, you must go back to the basics.

Back to getting the mind and body to trust themselves again.

Go back to a place that made you fall in love with the journey you are on to begin with.

Go back to landing in soft pits that have give, and grace, find the place that allows you to bounce back without injury and most importantly allows you to come back into your body.

No one knows you…better then you!
